Notes for Tomorrow
Notes for tomorrow is an installation, created in 2023 following actions that took place at different times; from “Ballad of the End” (2022), a choral, performative work, which has already seen several passages, first in Rome and then in Bologna, changing according to the space and the participants, to paintings on canvas and paper, created by Jager in his studio.
The photographs from the Ballad of the End archive and taken by Martha Micali become integral parts of the latest productions, together with the paintings on canvas and paper created through the impression of one surface on another, which records the pattern of the first through color – in the transfer something remains, something else is lost.
All the components act as fragments of an open synole, which emerges from the deconstruction process and is susceptible to modifications by addition and subtraction. In the interpenetration, characterized by the heterogeneity of the supports, the result is organic. The traces present in the paintings, between areas of shadow and light, between solids and voids, seem to evoke the post-Ballad of the end: after the “choreography” of the participants, what remains is a desert landscape, without men, of footprints and ruins, the signs of the movement of the boulders and the boulders themselves, as future archaeological sources for an unknown, if not non-existent, tomorrow.
The works are configured as the effect of previous actions, extrapolated from their original context and now combined according to physical and mental intersections. Like a posteriori meditations, these works draw from the pre-existing to potentially generate alternative paths.
